James and Lelya Sampson
Together the Sampsons have been actively involved in community service. James previously served as president and board member of the San Diego Urban League. He also held leadership roles in Bethel Baptist Church, the Jackie Robinson YMCA, and as a United Way volunteer. James has also donated his skills as a brick mason to help remodel homes and apartments in the community. Lelya is a retired teacher from the San Diego Unified School District, holding several leadership positions. She was one of the first facilitators for the San Diego School’s Human Relations Team. Both are life members of the NAACP and the San Diego Urban League.
