Precious Jackson Even at a very young age, Precious discovered the value of volunteerism and serving others. In 1999, she was awarded the Equal Opportunity Youth Award from the San Diego Urban League for her work with Project New Village, a community-based social services organization working to improve the health and well-being of residents in southeastern San Diego. She has served as a mentor and tutor to elementary school children, and was a member of the Urban League’s Thurgood Marshall Achievers Society. She is one of the first residents whose name was added to the Wall of Excellence, honoring student achievement in school and in the community, located in the Fourth Council District.
